You should have:
- A supported Windows operating system.

Larger datasets and complex models may require more memory and processing power.

- Search for Microsoft Power BI Desktop.
- Verify that the application is published by Microsoft.

- Open the Power BI Desktop download page: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/desktop/
- Follow the official download instructions.
- Select the appropriate installer for your system, if prompted.
- Run the downloaded installer.
- Follow the installation wizard.

Always download the application from an official Microsoft source rather than an unfamiliar third-party website.
Verify the Installation
After launching Power BI Desktop, you should see the application's starting screen.
Depending on the version, it may provide options to open a recent report, create a new report, or connect to data.
To verify that the application is ready, select the option to create a new report and confirm that the main Power BI Desktop interface opens.
You do not need to connect to a real dataset yet. The next modules will introduce data connections and preparation.
