What is Unsupervised Learning
Unsupervised learning is a type of machine learning where the model works with data that has no labels or predefined outcomes.
Since there are no known answers to learn from, the algorithm explores the data on its own, searching for hidden patterns, groupings, or structures that are not obvious at first glance.
This exploration often reveals things a human analyst might miss. A common example is analyzing customer purchase data without knowing in advance what types of customers exist.
The algorithm might discover distinct groups, like budget shoppers and premium buyers, purely from patterns in their spending behavior, without ever being told these categories exist.
This makes unsupervised learning especially valuable when labeling data is expensive or time consuming, since it can still extract meaningful insight from raw, unorganized data.
