Machine Learning vs Artificial Intelligence vs Deep Learning

Machine Learning vs Artificial Intelligence vs Deep Learning

These three terms are often used interchangeably, but they aren't the same. Each one sits inside the other, like layers.

Artificial Intelligence is the broadest concept. It refers to any technique that allows machines to mimic human intelligence, including reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Machine Learning is a subset of AI. It focuses on systems that learn from data and improve automatically, rather than following fixed rules a programmer writes.

Deep Learning is a subset of machine learning. It uses multi-layer neural networks to learn from very large amounts of data, and it works especially well for complex tasks like image recognition and speech processing.

  • AI is the overall goal of building intelligent machines.
  • Machine learning is one way to achieve that goal, using data-driven algorithms.
  • Deep learning is a specialized technique within machine learning, built on layered neural networks.
