Grouping and Aggregation

Grouping and Aggregation

Grouping is one of the most powerful techniques in data analysis.

It allows us to combine records based on a common attribute and calculate summary statistics for each group.

For example, we can group the dataset by:

  • Team
  • Season
  • Venue
  • Toss decision

After grouping, we can calculate:

  • Number of matches won by each team
  • Matches played in each season
  • Player of the Match awards received by each player
  • Number of matches hosted at each venue

Grouping transforms raw match records into meaningful summaries that are easier to interpret.
