Empowering Engineering Minds: GUVI’s Blended CATIA Program at Sairam Institutions

By Kirupa

96% of employers believe colleges must take greater responsibility for workforce readiness. GUVI’s recent CATIA program at Sairam Institutions directly addresses this gap by combining academic learning with practical, industry-relevant skills, preparing students to meet real-world engineering demands with confidence.

To bridge the growing gap between classroom learning and real-world readiness, GUVI launched a blended CATIA training program at Sairam Institutions from 25th April to 5th May, 2025. Spearheaded by GUVI’s College to Corporate (C2C) team, the program gave engineering students direct access to hands-on training in CATIA, one of the most widely used design and engineering tools across industries.

What set this program apart was its blended learning approach, which combined the flexibility of virtual sessions with the depth of in-person mentorship. This model ensured high engagement, allowing students to absorb complex concepts through real-time application and expert guidance.

How GUVI’s Blended CATIA Program Was the Need of the Hour?

In today’s fast-evolving engineering landscape, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills is no longer optional; it is critical. With 96% of employers emphasizing that colleges must take greater responsibility for workforce readiness, GUVI’s CATIA program at Sairam Institutions arrived precisely when students needed it the most.

Traditional engineering curriculum often struggles to keep pace with rapid industry changes, especially in highly technical fields like design and manufacturing. Many graduates leave college without hands-on experience in the latest tools, leaving them underprepared for real-world engineering roles. This gap becomes even more critical as industries adopt complex software like CATIA, which integrates design, simulation, and manufacturing processes into a single platform.

GUVI’s blended learning model addressed this challenge by combining the best of both worlds — the convenience and scalability of online learning with the rich interaction and mentorship possible only through in-person sessions. This hybrid approach was designed to maximize student engagement and retention while accommodating diverse learning styles and schedules.

Moreover, the program was tailored to meet the specific needs of the industry, focusing on current trends such as Industry 4.0, AI integration in design, and collaborative cloud-based engineering. By providing students with practical, scenario-based training guided by industry experts, GUVI ensured that learners were not just familiar with CATIA but confident in applying it to solve real engineering problems.

This initiative empowered students to transition smoothly from college to corporate environments, equipping them with skills that companies actively seek and rewarding students with the experience that sets them apart in a competitive job market.

In essence, GUVI’s blended CATIA program was more than a training course — it was a strategic intervention designed to close a critical skills gap and prepare the next generation of engineers for the demands of 2025 and beyond.

Industry-Led Learning That Made the Difference

A key reason behind the success of the CATIA program at Sairam Institutions was the active involvement of GUVI’s industry mentors. Mr. Premnath, Mr. Vijayanand, Mr. Binoj, Mr. Raghul, Mr. Suresh, and Mr. Sabreshwar brought in not just technical expertise but years of hands-on experience from the field. Their sessions went far beyond theory, introducing students to the kind of challenges engineers face in real design environments.

From problem framing to model validation, they walked students through every layer of the design process. Their insights helped students understand the “why” behind each step, not just the “how.” The mentors also shared personal anecdotes and project experiences, which gave students a practical lens through which to approach CATIA. They challenged the learners to think critically, iterate their designs, and build with purpose – skills that matter most in today’s job market.

For the students, this was more than just a software training. It was a rare opportunity to get industry-level feedback, ask real questions, and prepare for the expectations of the workplace.

Behind the Scenes: The C2C Team Who Made It Happen

The success of the CATIA program was driven by the committed efforts of GUVI’s College to Corporate (C2C) team. Leading the charge was Banuprakash M, supported by Ananda Rajamanickam and Lakshmana Narayanan V, who handled planning and coordination from start to finish.

The backend support that ensured a seamless learning experience was provided by Vinod, Arun Shukla, Rajib Kumar Lakra, Athulya Pradeep, and Sai Sunitha G, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran without a hitch.

The initiative was also backed by strategic support from GUVI’s leadership. Arun Prakash, CEO, S.P. Balamurugan, Co-founder, and Anitha Natarajan, COO, provided strong oversight to align the program with GUVI’s broader vision of industry-ready education. Their guidance ensured the quality, direction, and impact of the initiative.

Additionally, the tech enablement and development backbone was strengthened by contributors like Muruganandam and Vasanth Vijayabaskar, ensuring the program had the tools and technical infrastructure needed to succeed.
